What are rolling returns?

Rolling returns look at every possible holding period, for example every 1-year period over the last 5 years, checked monthly, instead of one fixed start date.

They show how consistent a fund has been: its average, best and worst outcomes, and how often it delivered a positive return. A fund with a high average and a mild worst case is more dependable.
